Calling My Children won the Best Short at the 2010 Newburyport Documentary Film Festival. The film documented the experience of a Boston family dealing with AIDS. 27-year-old Gail Farrow died of AIDS in 1989, leaving behind a husband and four young sons. The story is an intimate portrayal of the effects of love and loss on one family’s struggle for unity.
Photographer and filmmaker David Binder is now seeking help to fund the next update to this story, which will be a feature-length documentary. The story of Gail and her surviving family continues to develop and connect with viewers. Gail’s children are now the same age as she was when she passed and, with a new generation on the way, the unfolding chapter is waiting to be told.
